A carpet blanket used by a member of the Texas Brigade in 1862 survives.  Apparently purpose-made rather than something ripped up from a floor, the blanket was pieced with no concern for matching the pattern and one panel was cut in half and hemmed to stretch the stock of carpet into more blankets.  Family Heirloom Weavers has helped us reproduce these carpet blankets using their amazing ingrain carpet copied from original period examples.  Each blanket is completely hand pieced and hemmed as per the original, half panels and lack of pattern matching included.
