The crupper included as part of a set of artillery harness was made of folded and glued (rather than stitched and hair/seed stuffed) leather, and attached to the harness via two cast buckles of the same type used on infantry cartridge boxes. In an effort to improve our artillery impression overall, and replace broken pieces, Merrick’s Custom Leather will be reproducing these and other individual pieces of harness.
