The top of each set of hames was secured with a Hames Strap, to which attached the Collar Strap that would be buckled to the saddle.  This set is copied from an original that is slightly longer than the Ordnance Manual specification, which gives a bit more leeway for horses that are in between hames sizes.  The straps are made with custom cast iron roller buckles.
