A piece most reenactors are very familiar with from the American Civil War Museum collection and countless reproductions--it is rarely made correctly.  Made of heavy osnaburg with a lead button, entirely hand sewn, and patterned to utilize the full width of the cloth with little wastage, this bag was issued to a soldier in the Army of Tennessee in 1864 and is likely an example of a typical mass-produced government-made piece.
