While not an issued item, hoof picks are often dug from Civil War campsites.  Likely made in the field by artificers, this particular style is among the more commonly encountered (and it works well too!).  These reproductions are banged out from bar stock just like the originals, and are a perfect option to replace your 1870s patent folding hoof pick or that modern pick you try to hide.
