Cannoneers who served on foot were to be provided knapsacks, and receipts from the Reserve Artillery show this was done in the Army of Tennessee even into 1864.  Made by L.D. Haning, this knapsack is of the typical design made throughout the Confederacy for nearly the entirety of the war--a cloth single bag that was either painted, partially painted, or unpainted, with a painted cloth flap, and a set of straps or "harness" that was not integral to the construction of the knapsack.  This knapsack not only is the best option for We Soon Got Proud, but is ideal for virtually any Confederate impression for which a knapsack is appropriate.
