Link Straps were not intended to be part of the artillery harness.  The Ordnance Returns show, however, that some batteries had large numbers of Link Straps, likely indicating that teams of horses were linked at their halters.  We've found that linking teams is helpful, especially with horses that don't pull cannons and caissons every day.

These Link Straps are copied right from originals.  Unlike most reproductions that use bar buckles meant for cavalry headstalls (as was seen on postwar Link Straps), these are made like wartime examples with either original cast roller buckles or original cast dee buckles that have been re-enameled.
