Attached to sets of footman loops on the Valise Saddle, the Valise Straps secured the Valise in place.  Photos of artillery batteries in the field show that the Valise itself was often left off the saddle and the straps used to secure the driver's baggage, or even bags of forage, in its place. In an effort to improve our artillery impression overall, and replace broken pieces, Merrick’s Custom Leather will be reproducing these and other individual pieces of harness.  This listing is for one set of TWO Valise Straps meant to complete one saddle, and each comes with an original cast roller buckle that matches the originals that has been re-enameled.
